오늘 나의 책임은 FIFA에서 내가 맡은 이러한 역할에 전념하면서 내가 지금까지 배운 것을 토대로 "감독이란 무엇인가? 코치란 무엇인 가?"라고 묻는 아직 어린 미래의 축구인들의 질문에 답하는 것이다. 그들 자신이 직접 경험으로 배우는 것보다 더 좋은 것은 없다. 그러 나 그들은 내가 수십 년간 이 직업을 수행하며 축구계에서 겪고 배웠 던 것들을 통해 더 많은 것을 배울 수 있을 것이다.
나는 생각한다. 감독이란 그들이 원하는 바를 분명히 알고 그에 대한 분명한 시각과 그걸 달성하기 위한 전략을 아는 사람이다. 감독은 자기 자신을 명확하게 표현할 수 있는 사람이다. 자신의 생 각을 행동으로 옮길 수 있고 감독의 계획을 선수들이 지지하게끔 만 들 수 있는 사람이다. 그렇게 되기 위해서는 반드시 의사소통을 잘 할 수 있어야 한다.
감독은 일을 하면서 겪는 스트레스나 결정, 압박감을 견딜 수 있는 사람이다. 그런 환경에서도 평정심을 유지하면서 어려운 순간에는 한발 뒤로 물러나 상황을 큰 그림에서 볼 수 있어야 한다. 그리고 스 트레스에 부정적이거나 공격적으로 반응하지 않아야 한다.
감독은 강한 확신을 갖고 자신의 행동이나 가치관, 발언들을 통해 자신의 팀과 선수들의 삶에 영향을 줄 수 있는 사람이다. 감독은 반 드시 선수들의 존중과 신뢰를 얻을 수 있어야 한다.
감독은 경험이 부족한 어린 선수들의 목소리에 귀 기울이고 때로 는 계획을 바꿀 수 있는 열린 마음을 갖고 어린 선수들을 이해시킬 수 있는 사람이다.
감독은 또한 자기 팀 선수들을 사랑하고 연민하면서도, 동시에 그 들의 실수나 단점들을 지적하고 개선할 수 있는 동기부여를 할 수 있 어야 한다.
감독은 늘 최고와 최선을 추구하는 사람이다. 자기 자신이 먼저 나서서, 작고 세세한 부분도 무시하지 않으며 모든 선수들에게 관심 을 기울여야 한다. 또 선수들로부터 최선을 이끌어 낼 수 있도록 선 수들에게 요구하고 그들이 계속 발전하기 위해 노력하도록 이끌어야 한다. 감독은 최고의 선수도 늘 100%의 실력을 발휘할 수 없다는 것 을 알고, 선수들이 한계를 뛰어넘을 수 있도록 만들어야 한다. 감독은 축구가 사회와 어린이들에게 주는 영향력과 힘, 책임감, 매 력에 대해, 때로는 축구가 할 수 있는 공헌에 대해 아는 사람이다. 감 독이란 축구가 그 힘에 필적할 만큼 최대한 아름다울 수 있도록, 그 리고 순수한 축구의 예술을 보여 줄 수 있도록 만들어 나갈 의무를 가진 사람이다.

 

 

Today, my responsibility is to answer the question of "What is a manager? What is a coach?" asked by young, aspiring future footballers, based on what I have learned so far, while dedicating myself to the role I have in FIFA. There is no better way to learn than by experiencing things firsthand. However, they can learn much more through the knowledge I have gained over the decades I have spent in this profession and the football world.

I believe that a manager is someone who clearly understands what the team wants, has a clear vision for it, and knows the strategies to achieve those goals. A manager is someone who can express themselves clearly, translate their thoughts into action, and get the players to support the manager's plans. To achieve this, effective communication is essential.

A manager is someone who can handle the stress, decisions, and pressures that come with the job. Even in such an environment, a manager must maintain composure and, in difficult moments, be able to step back and see the situation from a broader perspective. They should not react negatively or aggressively to stress.

A manager is someone who has strong conviction and can influence the lives of their team and players through their actions, values, and words. A manager must earn the respect and trust of the players without fail.

A manager listens to the voices of young players with less experience and, at times, has an open mind to change plans, making sure to help those young players understand the situation. A manager is someone who not only loves and cares for their players but also can point out their mistakes and weaknesses, motivating them to improve.

A manager is someone who always strives for excellence and the best possible performance. They must lead by example, paying attention to even the smallest details and ensuring that every player is cared for. They must demand the best from the players and guide them to keep striving to improve. A manager knows that even the best players can't always perform at 100% and must help players push beyond their limits.

A manager understands the influence, power, responsibility, and attraction that football has on society and children, and sometimes, the contributions football can make. A manager is someone who has the duty to make football as beautiful as possible, matching the immense power it holds, and to showcase the pure art of football to the world.
